Overview

Cobb EMC has an exciting opportunity for a Distributed Energy Resources (DER) Project Analyst. The DER Project Analyst will play a key role in coordinating project activities and assisting the Director of DER Strategy in the procurement, implementation, and operations of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) technologies as well as in the delivery of energy efficiency and demand response programs. This position will be responsible for coordinating project activities, including business case analysis, budgeting, scheduling, and effectively communicating with external vendors,  contractors, and within the company.

 

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm (Hybrid Schedule: 2 days remote, 3 days in the office)

Responsibilities

What you will be doing:

Distributed Energy Resources (DER)
  • Assist the department in implementing the cooperative’s DER strategic plan for member energy services, energy efficiency, demand response, and distributed generation in meeting the cooperative’s organizational goals and supporting members in meeting their individual energy goals.
  • Provides ongoing technical support for project activities such as operations, maintenance, testing, diagnostics, commissioning, regulatory, etc.
  • Assist in coordinating project activities such as RFP process, business case development, tracking project schedule and budgets, and ensuring NDAs and new vendors are set up for clearing invoices, etc.
  • Documenting and organizing all the project-related materials on the company’s SharePoint site for easy access to the pertinent users.
  • Assist in creating necessary DER or other project reports and presentations to the management.
  • Help the Director of DER Strategy in preparing the annual budget.
  • Monitoring the performance and operations of the DER systems, including solar, energy storage, generator, microgrid, DERMS, etc., and communicate with the vendor for any malfunctioning, troubleshooting, or enhancements.
  • Receive directions from the immediate supervisor for scheduling and dispatching DER resources.
  • Assist the PMO in updating the status of all projects in Smartsheet.
  • Participate in the development and execution of strategic goals for the Power Supply department.
  • Provide presentations to directors, executives, and Board of Directors, as needed.
  • Interpret results from projects and translate these findings into clear and compelling recommendations and solutions.
  • Assist in providing organizational performance reports.
  • Develop short- and long-term financial forecasts.
  • Assist Power Supply in identifying future energy and capacity needs requirements.
  • Create and update key documentation for all Power Supply and DER related procedures, processes and policies for management and training assistance.
  • Collaborate with external partners to provide support, clarify requirements, escalate roadblocks, and facilitate communication for short and long-term budgeting, monthly billing, and resource scheduling.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

 

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Finance, Business, or Economics.

Demonstrated experience in coordinating events and meetings with external stakeholders and internal employees.

Minimum four years working experience in one of the following areas: Experience working with Distributed Energy Resources (DER) OR Experience in electric utility distribution systems planning, or operations, OR project management.

Proficiency with Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Power Point and other data analysis tools/software.

 

PREFERRED:

Experience in project management on DER-related technologies such as solar and battery storage.

Certificate in Project Management Professional is preferred.

EIT/FE (Engineer in Training/Fundamentals of Engineering) preferred.
